Day 3, 13 Nov 2016

Day 3 involved us making a day trip to Nara Park and Osaka! Nara Park was really scenic and it was interesting to interact with the deers. Lucky for us, the deers didn't attack us haha.

So Nara Park was a quite distance from the nearest station but since there was plenty of shops along the way, it made the walk bearable? Haha think the cooling weather helped as well.

First up, we bought the deer biscuit so we could feed the deers and hopefully take nice pictures with the deers. But the first deer we saw didn't want to eat the biscuit :( It was busy eating receipt. Hmm probably sick of the biscuits hahaha.

Hey deer

I think I got a lot of deer saliva on myself while feeding the deers. But it was a good experience. Lucky all the deers didn't attack me and were relatively polite haha. One of the deers kept bowing for food. I felt a little bad for just offering him one or two biscuits :/

Oh look, deer which refused to eat the biscuit sigh.

After feeding the deers, we took a walk around the park. Doesn't the combination of trees and water and its reflection looks so good? Haha.

Since we had a tight schedule (wanted to explore Osaka on the same day), we decided to leave Nara park. But first, some street food.
Green tea mochi with kinako soybean flour and red bean filling

We bought this mochi to try because... there was a long queue. What typical Singaporeans right. Anyway this mochi is kind of famous because of the hand and mallet pounding process. The speed of the pounding of the mochi was really fast (good that no one's hands was hurt by the mallet) and according to Google, it's 3 hits per second :O

Shop exterior and long queue

Yup so if you want to give this mochi a try, the shop is called Nakatanidou/中谷堂 and I do think this is worth a try :)

So from Nara we took a train to Osaka. One of my favourite things about trains in Japan is the toilets is the trains HAHA. Oh also love how you can eat in the trains.

First thing first, Osaka Castle. It was quite far away from the train station again x.x But it was good seeing it in real life after seeing so many pictures of it from Instagram etc.

Osaka Castle before and after sunset

How could we miss out Dontoburi Street when we are in Osaka right? We headed there for our dinner and it was really cool to see all the huge signboards (e.g. the huge crab sign) along the street.

The familiar looking Glico Running Man sign

Freshly grilled scallop :>

After walking around and absorbing the sights of Dontoburi Street, we decided to try okonomiyaki cause what's Osaka without it right?

Creo-Ru

This eatery is one of my favourite eatery in Japan, among all the meals we had. One of the main reason has to be that the okonomiyaki was delicious (duh, if not why will I like the eatery right). Another reason is how the eatery was packed with mainly locals (yay not your typical overrated food place).

Can't describe how shiok it was to eat the very warm okonomiyaki and takoyaki in the not-so-warm (maybe 13 degrees?) weather. Sadly, the takoyaki wasn't fantastic imo because it's a bit too doughy and I prefer crispy takoyaki like Gindaco ones.

In Japan, one simply doesn't stop eating even after having a main meal...

Pablo and Lord Stow tarts

The Pablo cheesetarts were really worth the hype and I prefer the tarts when they were heated up. Love the matcha one :) Sadly, the Pablo outlet in Shinjuku doesn't sell the small tarts :(

That marks the end of our day trip to Osaka and Nara Park. Headed back to rest and prepare ourselves to travel to Tokyo in the next day!
