Week 16- 11 Days in Taiwan
So I am here to blog about a 11 days trip in Taiwan.
Yes I went Taiwan again even when I just went there last year during January.
Yes you can spend 11 days there and it's not enough.
And I conclude summer is a bad time to be in Taiwan haha. Mosquito bites omggg ewww. Spamming repellent every SINGLE day.
But it was a different experience from travelling with school (in 2008) and with family last year. The range of activities etc. Like snorkeling, water activities, Shifen etc.
Day 1- Shida night market at Taipei
Flew to Taipei from HK at around 6 plus in the evening . Pretty cool experience cause flying off in the sunset is always nice (other than irritating glare of the sun rays argh).
Off we go ^^
Window seat :)
Ate all the night market food at Shida like oyster omelette, crepe, fried chicken etc. Omggg so freaking love Taiwan's food. Stayed at Banana Hostel for the first night, unique experience sleeping in a hostel haha and sadly we left too early the next morning to eat their special banana bread.
Day 2- Hualien
Mochi, the famous thing in Hualien
Some place outside hotel to get a good view of Pacific Ocean
Trying some fish thing
Pretty view of sunflowers
Day 3- Taroko National Park
Spent the entire day at Taroko National Park, never knew there were so much things to do. Looking like construction workers huh haha. Bumped into Singaporeans at Taroko while having lunch. Anyway cool experience of walking through the cave :)
Day 4- Green Island
Oh yes, green island doesn't have any ways of transport other than cycling actually haha. I mean you can drive, but other than driving, YOU CYCLE.
Some famous lighthouse haha
BBQ buffet for dinner
Cycled (or they cycled) like crazy to reach this hot spring. Salt water hot spring! Unique experience I guess.
Then cycled all the way back to the place we stay in the rain. And slept for like 45 mins only to try and see sunrise. Which didn't work out cause there wasn't really any sunrise -.-
Day 5- Snorkeling and heading off to Taichung
Feeding fishes with bread, touching a colourful fish, seeing pretty corals. Glad that I had a chance to snorkel yaaaay :)
There wasn't much to do at Taitung at night. So it was just food. Pretty good noodles and kind of love the tofu which was cold, kind of melt in your mouth :)
Custard apples (Y)
Day 6- Kenting tourist attractions, night market and stars viewing
Can only remember cycling around to some supposedly famous destinations and then hitting the night market. Which is super lively. Had pretty amazing grilled food omnomnom :)
And I remember drinking Taiwan beer along the beach and also looking up the sky at stars. Really the night when I saw the most stars in my life.
Day 7- Water sports at Kenting and Tainan night market
Don't really have any photos here but I think the Kenting water sports is really amazing ^^ went TW three times and it's my first time experiencing the water sports. Like omggg super love the thrill but was super scared during the rides LOL. Screaming my head off and grabbing the handles super tightly hahaha.
Day 8- Tainan day trip and Fengjia Night market
Headed to some treehouse at Tainan which was pretty cool for.. the first few minutes hahaha. History background is really not my cup of coffee leh haha.
Food is always the draw of any places (to me hahaha) So Tainan is famous for guancaiban which is basically rice in a bread. Directly translated to coffin bread haha.
Okay so we spent most of our day at Sun Moon Lake. But before that we headed out to get some food for breakfast and went to a university in Taichung for... I forgot what reason. But here's a photo.
AMAZING 11 DAYS IN TAIWAN DURING EASTER AND STUDY BREAK. :) Can't really remember a lot of things so the details aren't a lot hahaha.
Headed to some treehouse at Tainan which was pretty cool for.. the first few minutes hahaha. History background is really not my cup of coffee leh haha.
Guancaiban/ Coffin bread which tasted normal only.
Missing this now, popiah skin wrapped around ice cream and peanuts. HOW SHIOK.
Fengjia night market was really huge but I guess we were all kind of sick of TW night market food. Yesss TW food is super shiok but chicken cutlet, fried milk, milk tea with pearl every day? Hmm.
Okay shall just upload photos of some of the more shiok food.
Cheese with anything is good
Day 9- Taichung day trip at Sun Moon Lake, night at Ximending and Raohe night market
Okay so we spent most of our day at Sun Moon Lake. But before that we headed out to get some food for breakfast and went to a university in Taichung for... I forgot what reason. But here's a photo.
Headed to Sun Moon Lake for the second time hahaha.
HAHA the rock which we squeezed past people to get a photo with to prove we were at Sun Moon Lake, kind of haha.
Hey Sun Moon Lake, we meet again.
Okay so we left Taichung for Taiwan on train and we didnt book tickets and didnt manage to secure any seats at all :'( Squeezed all the way to the first cabin.. to sit on the floor.
Poor us.
Reached Taipei and headed straight to XiMenDing cause our hotel was there. And time for my all time favourite mee suaaaa.
THE BEST MEE SUAAAA I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
So XMD doesn't have much to explore so we headed to Raohe.
Day 10- Taipei 101, Yong Kang beef noodles, Din Tai Fung and Danshui
Looking out from Starbucks at 35th storey of Taipei 101. Been to Taipei 101 3 times, first time that I entered this Starbucks to enjoy the view. Tried Hazelnut latte, not bad :)
The company I had at Starbucks :)
This is Yong-Kang beef noodle shop which we tried the famous beef noodle. Not bad :)
If I didn't remember wrongly, the beef slices was slightly hard but the beef tendons/I really can't remember what beef parts was quite tender. And the soup was good :)
DTF's service at Taipei is like freaking good. Make me feel like a royalty. Yess worth the wait ^^
Went to Danshui which took us quite long. Long journey. Second time to Danshui. I still love tiedans but sadly some people don't share my love for it :(
Amazing view that we saw. Love how the sun is hidden by the clouds but sunrays still are streaming (?) out behind the clouds haha.
We were rushing to Lovers' Bridge to catch the sunset but we were too late :( SIGHHH cause this is all we can see at Lovers' Bridge
Headed to Shilin Night Market after spending quite a long time at Lovers' Bridge walking around, doing nothing much HAHA
Another photo of the bridge.
Anw was at Shilin night market for the third time. Really didn't feel amazed at all. The XXL chicken chop was nice but none of the other food that I was amazed with felt nice. Like da bing bao xiao bing, guan cai ban, oyster omelette etc.
Day 11- Jiufen, Shifen, Buffet for supper
Was at Jiufen for the third time, and this time there was some festival there. Probably 初一十五 hmm.
Didn't do much there other than eating hot dogs, buying my peanut candy thing, ate taro balls hmm.
First time heading to Shifen waterfalls, not bad huh the waterfalls :)
And first time writing tian deng at Shifen! :) Did it once at Toucheng Leisure farm during Sec 3. HAHA it can't be compared to this. All the long long list of wishes we wrote hahaha.
LET IT GOOO (haha)
So.. after so long I finally got to try Ma La hotpot! The dishes weren't fantastic (okay kind of regret never spam more beef) but omg free flow Haagen Daz icecream omnomnom. RUM & RAISIN! STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE! OMGGGGGGGGG.
AMAZING 11 DAYS IN TAIWAN DURING EASTER AND STUDY BREAK. :) Can't really remember a lot of things so the details aren't a lot hahaha.
