Via Tokyo Cafe and F21 at Causeway Bay, dinner and desserts at Central on Tuesday

Matcha desserts at Via Tokyo, spent around 10SGD for one bowl of dessert and one third of the matcha latte I think. Cafe hopping is always an expensive hobby sighhh. The matcha desserts were normal but the matcha latte was good :) Like not too sweet. Woohoo I LIKE.

The shop was pretty small so I guess don't go there with a big group. It seems like a nice place to chill alone haha.

Really like this denim thing but not going to spend more than SGD30 on it :( F21, can you have a sale please? :(
I think this is cool too hehehe. But damn mafan to go toilet hahaha.

Was walking around the mall area when we smell really really nice bread but we couldn't find the source of it. Really damn sad :( So we settled for some other street food.

All the random pork stuff and I tried 猪血 for the first time. It tasted like tofu texture and I will say my favourite sentence again "It's all in the mind"

Oh we also had quite good egglets there :) Then headed off to Central to meet some HKU people for dinner. The world is like really small. Can't believe my reputation of being foodie has spread erm so far...

Third time at Yat Lok already!! And can't believe I don't get to eat (fatty) roasted pork again. Must head back there for lunch one there!!! I WANT MY MEAT.

What's dinner without desserts in HK? So we headed to Leaf's dessert, a shop we found on Openrice. Openrice is seriously a saviour for us when we don't know what to eat. Anyone coming HK should seriously download this app :)

And omgggg, this Leaf's dessert is like a roadside stall where locals will eat. What an authentic experience :) And here's like the cheapest dessert I ever eat in HK!!!

All the desserts cost like HKD11 except for the white bowl of coconut sago which costs HKD12! Which is like SGD2 per bowl omggg. In HK, all the desserts I have eaten cost around HKD20+ hmm.

All the desserts at the shop are pretty unique. Like black sesame was mixed with almond wow.
And I kind of like the ginger mochi thing provided :)

Porridge (from dk what shop) and desserts at Heart's Dessert at Sham Shui Po and birthday surprise on Wednesday

Had fish porridge yaaay to fish hehe. Porridge always give me a warm fuzzy feeling. Like it feels like a comfort food :') Especially in cold weather hehe.

Headed for desserts again oops. Tried this mango pomelo and tauhuay thingy.

Was pretty good, but the shop was famous for some coconut dessert... Hence I MUST GO BACK AND EAT THE COCONUT AND CARAMEL PUDDING SOMEDAY!!

Played pool to while time till it was 12am so we could celebrated Sarah's 21st :)

Cheung Sha Wan and Tsim Sha Tsui on Thursday

Wanted to head to Sun Wah cafe for egg tarts but wth, it was closed for construction. But then luckily there was some shop selling some small tarts and the egg tarts were pretty good ^^ Love how I can always find random shops selling egg tarts, bolo bun woohoo.

Tasted pretty amazing cause it was piping hot, the crust was flaky and the egg taste was pretty strong. Yaaay ^^ Also tried the coconut tart and some biscuit thing. Really wanna eat some good laopobing sigh haha.

Travelled all the way to Tsim Sha Tsui for Star Cafe which was famous for tomato noodles. Read online that the shop was quite well hidden and it really was! It was located at a basement and near massage parlours hmm. HAHA.

Okay so you may be thinking what's so famous about a bowl of tomato noodles. Okay must emphasize that this was pretty good. It wasn't some tomato paste like noodles like Prego and spaghetti. It was like real tomato boiled soup which was thick enough to be paste like. Woohoo. Added eggs cause we are so addicted to eggs already LOL.

No but seriously, I eat eggs everyday. :O

Okay before we went for the noodles, we had egglet again :) The egglet shop looks famous but wasn't nice at all. Ordered the taro one cause it sounded unique and I seriously love taro but the taste wasn't strong :(

Anyway back to after dinner, what's dinner without desserts right? Forever eating desserts. Finally tried Lab Made. Liquid nitrogen icecream. HKD39 which is like more than SGD6 omggggg. But worth it. Cause it tasted damn freaking good but seriously can't eat out so often hahaha.

Sweet potato icecream ^^

Oh and then headed back to school for Cantonese lessons yawns. Forever sleepy during lessons hahha.

Cheung Chau on Saturday

Yaaay to normal weather. Sunny days are so awesomeeee. Could finally leave school and head to some nature places. Feel like we are always travelling on a a ferry to some island on weekends. But really love HK islands. Nice getaway :)

Pretty hilly areas in the background that is so pretty and surreal looking.

Pretty rocks again :) Anw it was pretty crazy. Went through this temple run like route to get access to rocks LOL. Like we had to climb a ladder, walk on narrow pavement sideways, hold onto a rock to climb up an obstacle, climb down ladders, climb more rocks... Crazy us. And crazier them to attempt climbing this whole rocky area haha.

Who says we only eat!!!

Cheung Chau is really pretty. Wonder how amazing it will be to retire there!! But it seems pretty scary there. Saw so many helicopter trips being made to fetch people to hospital? OMG.

Anw amazing company as usual :)

Anyway had amazing mochi, egglet and sesame and peanut candy courtesy of Selica's parents. Love the street food at Cheung Chau!! :)

Oh and had porridge at Cheung Chau and finally had youtiao omggg. Miss Singapore's youtiao hahaha.

And one bowl of porridge wasn't enough LOL. Headed to Central for supper at Man Yuen's noodles. Beef brisket noodles! First plate of noodles that doesn't have the weird yellow noodles taste.
Beef brisket noodles for HKD36 (SGD6) which was cheap for Central's standards. And noodles are always pretty expensive here. Like the wanton mee I super love also cost that much in Jordan area.

Okay byeeeee. Anyway time flies omgggg. Soon I will be in HK for like two months. Really starting to love being here. Playing pool and squash and going to the gym frequently, crazy shopping trips and HTHTs ^^ Shall enjoy my remaining time on exchange. Till the next post :)

Cooking session on Tuesday

Fried udon, a fish and two different types of vegetables. Not bad an attempt :)

Really admire how people can cook, remain calm etc. Must learn all the good points and increase my domestic goddess level :S

Forever alone day on Friday

Well well, it really felt worse being alone on Vday in a foreign country. I mean in SG, I can always go out with friends or at least receive some food from friends. I mean along with messages, that make me feel so loved awww.

Glad that I had people to ate with for dinner and supper ^^

Tried some goose porridge that tasted damn good at first but progressively not as nice hmm. But yaaay to porridge. Love eating porridge in cold cold weather haha..

From some Fuk Kee shop along Mongkok. MUST TRY MUI KEE SOME OTHER DAY HMPH.

Wanted tangyuan cause it was 15th day of CNY but the tangyuan we had sucked EWWW. :(

One Dimsum on Saturday

YAY to dimsum again ^^ Super love the chee cheong fun skin with dough fritters. Must thank Wahlim for the recommendation again! Then went to Tsim Sha Tsui for some shopping and then had desserts at Happy Togther which was normal only...

Ippudo Ramen, Happy Lemon and Good Hope Noodles on Sunday

Headed over to Kowloon Bay cause there was supposed to be good harbour view... but it was just another shopping centre. But hey, I got to try Ippudo Ramen finally. And no queue at all. Why is SG one always crowded?! Maybe there's better ramen in HK. I wanna go try Butao Ramen and Ichiran ramen hehe.

Can't describe how much I love ramen soup and the soft boiled egg ^^

The company :)

Walked around and finally got to drink Happy Lemon. Can't describe how excited I was about Happy Lemon cause all the shops in SG closed down. And guess what? It sucks so bad. What's with their salted cheese?! Singapore's rock salt cheese (esp the cocoa one) is godlike SIGHHH I MISS YOU.
The matcha here doesnt taste as strong as well. SIGH SIGH SIGH.

But the happy lemon is much cheaper here haha. Like salted cheese here cost like $2 but used to cost $3.50 in SG, But give me Singapore's rock salt cheese anytime. WHY YOU CLOSE DOWN :'(

Went back to Mongkok again and ate at Good Hope noodles which was not bad but not fantastic. I think the noodles itself taste better than Mak Man Kee's ones. Cause Mak Man Kee's noodles were ew horribly dry. But the wanton from Mak Man Kee were like omggggg. Two prawns in one wanton. HOW CAN ANYTHING BEAT THAT?! The prawns were quite QQ too ahhhh.

Feelings

Spent my first vday overseas. It does kind of feel sad and more lonely than usual. No close friends to ask out for dinner and no chocolates from anyone sighhhh. Okay not that I don't have friends here.

SIGHHH my reluctance to do anything related to school HAIIII.

Okay byeeee.

Macau trip on Monday

Macau has really pretty blue skies.
And the infrastructure does make you feel like you are in Europe. Except the weather is really warm. And I thought I was appropriately dressed without tights... Which was proven wrong (explained later)

Macau is just full of casinos everywhere. Which all of them checked my passport except for one.

Finally reached St Paul ruins after walking upslope for so looooong. The place where everyone is photobombing everyone's else photos.

Bad choice to travel to Macau during CNY. So crowded everywhere :(
Went to Venetian Macau. Can't go to Venice? No worry, go the fake venice and eat awesome egg tarts from Lord Stow first.

Bought almond cookies and tried so much food to realise HK island has the same shop, watched people do bungee jump and felt like doing it but it's so expensive (sigh). Headed back to the ferry terminal at around 7pm and omg, earliest ferry ride was 3am :O While we were being shocked and thinking of what to do, the 3am ferry ran out of seats... SO 3.30am here we go. Can't believe we survived it. Played stupid games etc to while our time away...

Reached Central early and decided to go to Lin Heung tea house for dimsum at 6am. Seriously who eats breakfast at that time?!

Old school dimsum at 6am with all the old people. Place with the most dirty utensils ever. The steamed egg cake is good. So is the lotus paste bun which contains salted egg yolk nomnom. Didn't try the custard bun, har gow and siew mai. I will be back for it, I think? :)

Tim Ho Wan on Wednesday

Tim Ho Wan again! Wanted to eat at Kam Wah instead but they ran out of bolo buns :( HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN. Tim Ho Wan at Shamshuipo which is the main branch and hence there is no queue at all. People who spent like hours queuing for TimHoWan in SG, too bad for you all hahaha. Anw I finally managed to try the glutinous rice yaaaay :) Pretty good :D

Steamboat buffet on Thursday

The Hall tutor brought us to HIPOT at Jordan for steamboat buffet and it was only around $8SGD for lunch omgggg. I mean there wasn't that much variety and everything but still fish and beef slices ^^ Worth it hehehe.

麻辣soup hehe.

Then went for dessert at Honeymoon dessert which was normal and there's outlets of that in SG which wasn't fantastic as well :(

Kam Wah on Sunday

Awesome bolo bun with butter ^^ SO HUGE AND CRISPY CRUST for HKD8 :)

Headed back earlier to cook dinner with the rest of the exchange people hehe. More like wash and cut vegetables only oops.

SUPER HAPPY TO SEE ALL THE FRIED BROCCOLI HEHEHE.

27th January-1st Feb

Another week without me doing any work again, what's new again. Here to blog about the highlights of the week again. Nothing much happened I guess.

Cooking in hall on Tuesday

Cooked our first meal together in hall ^^ Tomatoes, minced pork and udon and steamed vegetables. Yaaaay, not bad for a first attempt.

Mobile Softee on Wednesday

Tried to rush out to Mongkok after running in the morning to get my prepaid card... and I spot the mobile softee van :) Finally got to try it after seeing so much many of my exchange friends posting pictures of it. Tasted pretty normal actually, just that it's really quite soft #youdontsay

Alone time on Wednesday :)

Then went shopping for fooood. And I saw one bottle of cashew nut cookie. Just buy only hahaha. Haven't see chinese new year food here please :( They don't have pineapple tarts and my favourite prawn roll SIGH.

Food trip in Central/Wanchai on Thursday

Tried Lan Fong Yuen and ate at Capital Cafe again. Lan Fong Yuen is so so so disappointing. The service was horrifying. Sat down at a place and was made to move again. And the waiter kept insisting that we should use English. EXCUSE ME, we got so cui meh?!??!

So not everything that looks old school is good okay.

Famous pork chop bun and silk stocking milk tea

Yes, I am eating kaya toast -.- Haven't see kaya for so longggg.

Well, the food there wasn't bad but it wasn't good so I felt it was overrated. The milk tea was only slightly smoother than usual milk tea. The pork chop bun looks so small and sad haha. But still better than the one from Macau, which has bones in it omgggg. Shall blog about it again next time haha.

Since I called it a food hunt, how can it stop with one shop right? Went to the Starbucks store with HK concepts incorporated in it. Pretty cool.

I want to try the red bean pudding the next time I am there!!

Ordered the coffee flavoured bolo bun and egg tart. The coffee taste was stronger for the egg tart I guess. But both of them don't really taste good oops.

Also headed to Capital Cafe at Wanchai again. Omg can't believe they don't sell milk pudding!!! So embarrassing. Had to ordered some other food. The red bean ice was pretty good :)

Wanted to buy egg tarts back for dessert/supper after steamboat but sigh honululu was closed by the time I headed back for it SIGHHHH.

Steamboat on Thursday

Fireworks and sushi supper at Tsim Sha Tsui on Saturday

Super love the fireworks display :) Won't mind traveling and squeezing again for the fireworks. Embarrassed myself totally in front of new people (friends) when I said that I have been watching 2D fireworks in Singapore and the fireworks that night was HD and 3D woohoo.

SASHIMI HALF -PRICED. HKD 15 for three thick pieces :)

Quite a few sushi were at half price! :D One Sushi, I will be back for you!

Horse racing at Shatin Race course on Sunday

Okay so it was the first race of the lunar new year and hence was supposed to be a big event. Won HKD4 this time yaaaay better than losing HKD30 the last time :(

LOL this photo act like got win 30 plus dollars HAHA. Wear red colour specially. Kidding.

Got to eat Movenpick icecream again ^^ No pistachio flavour but love the espresso flavour :)

Was pretty worried about having to celebrate cny here alone. Foreign country, CNY (with shops closed), without family. Sounds pretty scary but glad for the company ^^
