It’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok
If you’re lost
We’re all a little lost and it’s alright

Oh hey there, guess who's back? My last post here was about Vietnam and I just spent today reminiscing about Vietnam so I guess it's kind of timely too? Haha between Oct 2018 to Jun 2021, I guess I am lucky enough to have visited Korea, Tasmania/Melbourne and Okinawa before COVID hit us in Mar/Apr 2020.

No idea whether it's because of my laziness or the fact that writing lengthy email submissions has killed my interest in writing LOL. Nonetheless, I guess writing is one way to channel all my emotions somewhere.

Was clearing up my email archives when I came across this C-Vat Questionaire which I had done before my interview for my current role. One of the lines said I am very trusting of people and see people as nice and friendly. It's sad that I don't think I am the same person anymore. And this reminds me of the story about carrot, egg and coffee again, which I had shared previously here. However, back in 2018, I probably didn't realise I would become an egg. 🤷

Deep down I guess everyone knows when something isn't right for them. Maybe sometimes we need a little (or even a lot) push. After all, how many 5 years does one have?

2% is not 0%; 2% is something.

Back from Hanoi, my 3rd overseas trip this year.

Well, am attempting a different blogging style (haha). Not going to overload my blog with all my travel photos or the detailed itinerary. Just wanted to share some of the pictures and to note down the moment/feeling when these photos were taken.

Sunset at Long Bien Bridge, 2/10/18.

Had a hard time trying to find the exact address of this bridge so we can take a Grab to the bridge. So we asked this shop owner who we bought straw bags from (lol) for the exact address and she told us to walk there instead. Glad we walked there, because how could you stop in the middle of this bridge when motorcycles rumble past?

Fun fact: This bridge is built by the French architects and had been bombed several times (due to its critical position). Because of how the Vietnamese tried to keep this bridge open, this bridge is a symbol of resilience I guess?

A cup of Vietnamese filtered coffee to warm oneself

After travelling in a sleeper bus (this is legit quite comfortable on a sidenote) for around 6 hours and facing cold winds, this and a bowl of pho is heaven (haha). And also, the hospitality of our trekking agency (Sapa Original Trek) is heart-warming, be it the quick response to our queries, rushing us from the Sapa office to the bus station, giving us free water or buying the stainless steel coffee filter cup on my behalf (around SGD1 for one each cup wheee) so I won't be ripped off.

And there is also something so heartwarming about this family running a business together. 💓 Oh yeah, sidenote dinosaur was from the child of the family (where we took the opportunity to play with him and his many dinosaur toys wow).

Livelihood; taken outside Hanoi Prime Center Hotel

To travel to Hanoi Prime Center Hotel, we had to travel ~1.5 km and nope, not going to walk with our luggage so we decided to use a Grab again (the Grab there is very cheap by SG's standards).

Little did we know that many of the roads were closed from Friday evening for weekend market and the Grab driver had to take many detours and asked locals for directions multiple times before we could get to our hotel. And because he couldn't drive into the narrow alley leading to our hotel, he ran to the hotel to ask the hotel staff to help us with our luggage. I got to say, I am impressed and touched by the locals' helpfulness?

Oh ya, said driver said Ho Chi Minh is more exciting. Okay, time to go there just for Saigon beer? (Sidenote, Saigon beer > Hanoi beer imo)

Buzz in the local flower market

Watching the locals do their thang, taking in all the sights while thinking about how life might not be need to be so complicated.

Till the next time.

Here to share my new obsessions:

當每顆星星都在嗚咽 都在落淚 每個幻想 都已幻滅 是否能相信 妳會出現?

(Such an old song but old is good? Haha)

Her heart beats, red wine,
My toxic valentine.
Lays her halo on her pillow that used to be mine.

Well, they say people come
They say people go
This particular diamond was extra special

At Tashichho Dzong

Back from the "Land of Thunder Dragon", or what known as Bhutan to most of us and I think I left a part of myself there. Oh well, I guess I form attachment to things and people way too easily.

But I guess, like what the guide mentioned a few times, "Nothing is permanent". Haha, the sentence is probably one of the few things I remember among all of the things our guide shared on Buddhism. Okay, I do remember Guru Rinpoche, the 4 Guardian Kings and reincarnation as well. Maybe people only remember what they want to remember and well, the sentence stuck with me because it is something that I already strongly believe in - memento mori, which literally means remember you must die. Sidenote, here's a good article on it.

Before this trip, I thought my travel priorities were just food and nature. Japan? Most excited about ootoro sushi, Ichiran, tonkatsu and Mount Fuji. Australia? Beaches and the coffee. Bhutan? I didn't even know anything much about it before travelling there, other than it is a landlocked country that measures Gross National Happiness instead of GDP and there is a Tiger Nest Monastery nestled in the valley. After this trip, I guess I do travel for the interaction with the locals as well, albeit it wasn't a lot. 🤷 Hearing stories about what they like to do in the free time, their families etc.

Oh in case you were wondering, nope I didn't find the key to being happy. But I believe there's a difference between happiness and contentment.  Perhaps it's something about the thought that nothing last forever that brings contentment. Or maybe it's the vast greenery.

I will am missing the slow pace of life, along with all the mountains and rivers. Log Jay Gay.

It's not everyday that you get to attend a concert (and all the more a Mayday concert) so must record it down right.

If I were to summarise Mayday's concert in a phrase, it's a party with the band. The atmosphere was lit af (if you were not seated too far away from the stage haha) and I am wondering now if any other concerts can ever match up in terms of the energy level.

Not a mega fan of Mayday actually, so I actually googled for the songs they would likely to play for this leg of the concert to prepare myself 😆 Prior to that, the only songs I knew from them were Actually listing them down make me feel not so bad ah 😂 See I actually know quite a few of their classics, almost half of them were sang in the concert.

New favourites after my research and the concert:

派对动物
“Let's go party party all night Oh oh oh oh
And many many good times Oh oh oh oh
(Gotta say I love the instrumental parts in this song💓😍 and opening with this song is quite a good choice haha.)

(I think in life we always harp on the small setbacks and aim for the 'bigger' things in life. While I don't think this song is trying to say you can just aim to be ordinary, I think it just means that there's nothing wrong if your aim in life is just to be contented.)

(A bit morbid, but can I say I want this song to be played at my funeral lol. I mean this song, at least in my interpretation, is about treasuring the small things in life before you leave this world so isn't it perfect haha. And listening it to the song with the video, albeit it being a cartoon thing, makes you sad)

(This song is sang for their encore and guess this is a classic, telling you to follow your dreams)

Ashin was pretty good in hyping up the crowd, with his jokes about people preferring Jay Chou and also how everyone can hear us being high in the National Stadium. Eh wait the first joke, I do prefer Jay, 男神leh but now, I wonder if any concerts can ever match up to this in terms of energy level cause Mayday's one was really good oops. And I can imagine why fans go crazy over him/Mayday, “我爱你们” HAHA. Oh can I say I am impressed with the instrumental parts (and 怪兽 hehe)?

Ending this post with a song from the artiste that did the opening for Mayday's concert:

LOL might not be a die-hard fan but am hoping they will last for many more years and have a good album so I can might go again 😌

Till then.
